Structuring content so an AI answer engine can extract it and reuse it when responding to a question. Measured in citations and mentions rather than clicks.
We work on this: Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
What the work actually is
Answer Engine Optimization is mostly format, not volume. An engine extracts passages, so a short section that answers one question cleanly is more useful than a long guide that answers twelve questions loosely. The practical work is headings that match real questions, answers placed immediately beneath them, and structured data that tells a machine what it is looking at.
Two things worth knowing before you buy it
Being cited is not being credited. A page can be the source of an answer that never names the company that published it. Citation counts and brand mentions are separate measurements and they move independently, so a program reporting only one of them is reporting half the result.
Structure alone does not create citations. We applied the same FAQ blocks and the same structured data to twenty of our own service pages. On one AI engine, nineteen of the twenty earned no citations at all. The single page that did was the only one on a subject people were actually asking about.
So demand comes first
That result is the reason we scope this work by measured demand rather than by filling gaps in a service menu. Before formatting anything, establish that the questions are being asked: definitional search queries, the retrieval queries AI assistants generate, and the questions clients repeat. Format converts demand. It does not manufacture it.
How it is measured
Citations, brand mentions, and share of voice against named competitors across a fixed question set. Not rankings, and not clicks. A page can win an answer and send no traffic, which is a result, not a failure, provided everyone agreed in advance that it counts.
